We are a mission-focused parish who are committed to the inner-city
neighbourhood which surrounds us. We dare to be shaped by the inner city,
and yet seek to transform our neighbourhood by preaching in Word and
action, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Here is a non-exclusive list of outreach opportunities you might
consider (in no particular order):
YouthNet is the Anglican Church's ministry to youth in Halifax's inner city. YouthNet is an umbrella outreach initiative which reaches out in various ways to the youth of the inner city neighbourhood surrounding Saint George's. Programmes include Mentoring, Lunch-time drop-in centre, Music and Drama programs, Culture Club, Wilderness Camping, Summer Day Camps, Scouts Canada programs of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers, to name some. To volunteer for any individual YouthNet program, or to simply find out more, contact Jesse Blackwood.
Soup Kitchen: The St. George's Soup Kitchen serves a full meal to those in need every Saturday in the Parish Hall (at 2221 Maitland St). Doors open at 4pm and close at 5pm. The Soup Kitchen is put on by volunteers from both the parish and the community. To become involved, contact the Parish Office.

Christmas Outreach Programmes - including:
Christmas Family Outreach: Every year St. George's assists families at Christmas by providing a Christmas hamper. There are several ways you can be involved in this outreach effort.
- You can provide financial support by placing a donation on the collection plate, clearly labeled Christmas Outreach.
- You might like to donate a turkey, groceries, new (with tags) childrens' clothing, new toys, or diapers.
- Consider sponsoring a family through your workplace or personally - $250 covers the cost of everything for a family with several children.
- Come on Saturday morning, December 17th, to help with wrapping gifts and packing hampers. Signup sheets are at the back of the church.
- Join us with your car during the afternoon of December 17th to help with delivery. Signup sheets are available at the back of the church.

Mission to Seafarers Christmas Shoebox Programme Hundreds of thousands of seafarers visit Halifax each year. For those away from home at Christmas, churches in the Metro area put together shoe boxes which are filled with warm mitts, gloves, hats, scarves, personal toiletries, writing pads and pens, etc. The boxes with these items are then delivered to the Missions to Seamen ministry which distributes them to seafarers in port over the Christmas season.
