Little Dutch (Deutsch) Church
270 Years in the Community…
…225 Years in the Round!
The Little Dutch Church or Old St. George’s was erected 270 years ago and stands as an active space of worship. At the end of the 18th century, the population expanded and the community became formally Anglican: the Parish of St. George. 225 years ago, in 1801, the first service was held in the Round Church. As a community, the Parish of St George is honouring these significant dates.
Today it is the second oldest building in Halifax, a national and provincial historic site, and remains as a witness to the resolve of Halifax’s early German community.
